Man får et glimrende indtryk af Irland og irernes mentalitet gennem deres fremragende film. Her er en liste over nogle af de mest markante irske film, men kom gerne med jeres favoritliste.

Hvis I gerne vil se nogle spændende, lærerige og hjertegribende film om Irlands turbulente historie, så kan vi anbefale følgende – mange kan måske findes gratis på YouTube:
  • ”The Quiet Girl” – meget smuk film om en pige, der sendes til hendes tante og oplever omsorg – meget rørende.
  • ”Belfast” – film om en protestantisk familie, der må forlade Belfast, da de ikke vil vælge side under The Troubles (rørende - must see)  
  • ”Michael Collins” - autentisk historie fra 1916 til Irlands borgerkrig 1921-23 (meget irsk og historisk korrekt – must see)
  • ”The Wind That Shakes The Barley” - om to brødre, der kommer på hver sin side i den irske borgerkrig 1921-23
  • ”The Magdalene Sisters” - autentisk film om ugifte, gravide kvinders skæbne på Magdalene-hjem
  • ”Philomena” - autentisk historie en «Magdalene-søster“, der søger sit bortadopterede barn, der blev solgt til amerikanere
  • ”Bloody Sunday” (Instruktør: Paul Greengrass) - autentisk og meget dokumentarisk skildring af begivenhederne (meget hjertegribende – must see)
  • ”Hunger” (Instruktør Steve McQueen) - skildring af IRA fangers umenneskelige forhold i Maze-fængslet og deres sultestrejke (meget hjertegribende – must see)
